Visualize invisible things.
Hydrocore is a scientific visualization studio in Tokyo, founded in 2022. We produce 3D CGI animation, congress visuals, and product CGI for researchers and life science companies — translating mechanisms that exist only at the molecular or cellular scale into something any audience can immediately understand.
The team comes from molecular biology, ecology, mechanical engineering, and advertising production.
We work directly with principal investigators throughout each project, not through intermediaries. That proximity to the research is where the accuracy comes from.

Takashi Taniai
CEO / Science Visual Director
Trained in mechanical engineering, fashion design (Buntan Design Institute), knitwear design under Kansai Yamamoto, and NC machining — a background that spans structure, form, and precision fabrication. Founded Hydrocore around a single theme: making the invisible visible. Works at the intersection of art and science, translating research and engineering into images. Notable credits include reconstruction CGI for the 2015 NHK Special on the Hiroshima atomic bomb, and visual identity work for Sony Computing.
Jun Tamai
Executive Director / Science Director
Biology specialist. Drawn to the chemical communication between plants and animals — how organisms signal, respond, and cooperate without language — and pursued that as a graduate research topic before pivoting to scientific media. Has since directed video, print, and web projects for science and technology clients. Also builds data visualization tools and web applications. Comes alive in conversations with researchers.
Masami Nagata
Managing Director / Science Director
Molecular biologist by training — undergraduate thesis on visualizing bacterial flagellar motors (nanomachines), which turned out to be a perfect introduction to scientific CGI. Has worked in medical communication and scientific advertising ever since, as a video planner and director. Participated in the 2018 NHK Special "The Human Body" CGI production. Has spent his entire career at the intersection of biology and visualization — the thread runs straight from flagellar motors to iPSC retinas.
