[ OVERVIEW ]

A chairperson's vision, distilled into one image.

"Hope, Brighter Than Ever" — this was the theme set by Dr. Masayo Takahashi, chair of the 25th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine. We translated that vision into a key visual that could speak to researchers, clinicians, patients, and the public alike. Starting from the poster, we extended the design into a full stationery suite used throughout the meeting: slide templates, envelopes, letterhead, and business cards.

PROCESS

5 steps

[ 01 ]

Theme unpacking

We unpacked two guiding themes: "Hope, Brighter Than Ever" and Prof. Takahashi's "science cycle" — the idea that basic research leads to commercialization, whose returns fund the next generation of research. Key words extracted: hope, light, regeneration, Kobe, cycle.

[ 02 ]

AI-assisted direction exploration

We analyzed past JSRM meeting posters with AI to identify visual conventions, then generated a wide range of rough concepts — sailboats, light on water, Kobe's port — to explore directions quickly. This let us align with the client on visual tone well before detailed execution began.

AI-generated concept comparisons

[ 03 ]

Refinement with controllable AI

With the core concept confirmed — sailboat, science cycle, Kobe's scenery — we used controllable AI to generate and compare multiple variations rapidly, reaching near-final quality quickly and moving smoothly through to client approval.

[ 04 ]

Artist finishing

A human artist refined the AI-generated visuals — verifying that every element (the number of circles representing the science cycle, the direction of the sail, the palette's sense of hope) was semantically coherent with the meeting's theme — and brought the image to its final form.

Poster & derivative production

From the finalized visual, we produced the complete stationery suite: print-ready poster, slide templates (title and body), envelopes (A4 and Western), letterhead, and business cards — all used throughout the meeting.
